My daughter Nwamaka Ifeanyi is so special to me that I gave her my name,” Ifeanyi” which means “The greatness of God”. My wife and I are farmers with only primary school education, and we faced so many struggles. I was once approached to send my daughter abroad, but I refused. I had heard of the trauma that such girls go through; some of them come back with nothing and some, even die! I was determined to face the struggles together with my family. Gradually, Nwamaka finished secondary school and even graduated from University. Today, she does tie and dye, batik, sews and even prints. Opportunities are all around us, only if we diligently search for them.
Today, I am a chief and my family reputation is great because I hadn’t made the drastic decision of sending Nwamaka abroad. My name is Chief Emmanuel Ifeanyichukwu Okoh, The Odogwu of Ugbodu Kingdom and my daughter, Nwamaka and my entire family is Not For Sale.
