My name is Blessing and this is my story.
When I was younger, I loved painting. My father, on the other hand, didn’t. Then, things were so hard financially that I had to leave school. I hawked smoked fish, boiled corn and pure water, just to survive. I heard about how girls travel abroad illegally and make money but I also heard stories about torture, rape, and beatings. I cancelled that plan and continued my hustle. My situation turned when my friend’s father purchased one of my paintings. Since then, different people here and abroad have been buying them. Because of the money from my paintings, I am now in my final year and also running a free workshop for young girls. Today, I am my family’s pride and joy. My name is Blessing Osageduwa and I am not for sale.
